Decorating with Mid Century Modern, Part 5

Displaying a collection of vintage finds can be a great way to decorate. Collections can be made based on form, color, subject, manufacturer, or use. They can be simple & orderly or robust & frenetic. Time spent on Flickr resulted in the following examples. Enjoy!

Target, I Love You So

During a recent trip to Target I found these shiny, retro bread boxes. They look like pieces of candy!

Because my Target was out of the red ones—and that is going to be the accent color in our kitchen—I went to the Target web site. A search for "retro kitchen" lead me to these awesome and affordable finds. I heart Target.

The Color of 2010

In December Pantone unveiled the color of 2010: PANTONE 15-5519 Turquoise. I can't think of a poppier mid century throw back!

Vintage Inspired Lighting

A few months ago we were lucky enough to find a vintage chandelier for our dining room at a flea market in New Jersey.

We're now on the hunt for mid century vintage or vintage inspired sconces. During my search I've found Rejuvenation—a Portland, Oregon company specializing in period lighting.

Here are just a few samples from the mid century modern line:

Be sure to check out the company history section of the site for an inspiring start-up story.

Also, right now you can enter to win a fixture from Rejuvenation's latest collection—the Hourglass. Enter here.
